There is a discrepancy between the total reported as Net Remuneration in the summary page and my actual net pay. Why?

The discrepancy is due to the difference between your net remuneration and your net pay. Your net remuneration, shown on the Summary Page, is simply your net base salary plus post adjustment. However, your net pay reflects a number of your individual pay deductions or additions (such as pension and medical insurance contribution; rental subsidy, allowances linked to mobility, hardship, dependent children, etc.), most of which cannot be determined in advance, because they depend on individual circumstances of the staff.

However, the average staff contribution to the medical insurance premium, calculated across the various medical plans available to staff of different UN organization at your duty station, as well as the average contribution of staff towards the pension fund, will be calculated at the end of the survey and used in the determination of the weights used in the calculation of the PAI for your duty station. Individual allowances reflected in your net pay may be significant for you but not relevant for the calculation of the PAI, which is a measure the average cost of living of your duty station. Adding a number of questions to capture information on individual allowances or deductions could produce a more accurate individual net pay, but this would run counter to our efforts to keep the questionnaire simple and more efficient.
