How can a classification officer understand jobs in diverse occupations?

The process of job evaluation requires the analysis of the component parts of a job; the comparison with other jobs in similar disciplines; discussion with experts in the occupational field, the job holder and the supervisor, to name a few of the methods used.  It requires volumes of background reading on the occupational field, the Organization, its mandate and programmes. Finally, from this information, the job analyst applies specialized training to focus on the significant elements that are to be taken into account in the job evaluation process.
