Yes, it does.
The data provided by New York based staff on the survey questionnaire, reflecting their expenditures on housing as well as food and beverages, clothing, various goods and services for the maintenance of the house, transport, communication, recreation and culture, education, health, restaurants and hotels, etc., will be used to estimate the expenditure weights used in the calculation of the post adjustment index (PAI). Assigning the proper importance to groups of expenditure that are significant for UN staff produces a more accurate tracking over time of the true inflation as experienced by UN common system Professional staff, which in turn produces a more accurate evolution of the PAI.
For example, expenditures on education are highly significant and increased steadily in New York in the past several years, but their importance within the PAI can be accurately determined only if they are properly and accurately reported by survey respondents.
