ICSC recommends that the hotels, which are selected for the survey, should be commercial properties that are frequently used by the UN travelers. The hotels should be situated in a reasonably safe area of a duty station, preferably within a walking distance of UN offices or no more than 15-20 minutes away by taxi or public transportation. Local UNDSS should be consulted to determine safety and security matters regarding walking or commute by public transport. Selected hotels should maintain relative high standards of cleanliness and sanitary conditions and ideally offer meals on premises.
