Under the direction of the Executive Secretary who is the
chief administrative officer of the Commission, the Office of
the Executive Secretary has responsibility for development and
implementation of the programme budget, coordination of the
technical activities of the secretariat, provision of
administrative support to the Commission and management of the
secretariat.

John P. Hamilton Executive Secretary
Develops the programme budget for the secretariat taking into
account the programme of work and associated costs devolving
from technical activities of the secretariat. Determines costs
for staff resources, information and communication
technologies, common facilities, office space and other
resource requirements; establishes a results based budget for
the biennium and presents the budget to the Advisory Committee
on Administrative and Budgetary Questions and other
intergovernmental bodies.
Coordinates technical activities of the secretariat, develops
the programme of work and provides reports on progress to the
Commission.
Supports the work of the Commission by delivering substantive
servicing in coordination with relevant services of the UN
secretariat, of all meetings of the Commission, the Advisory
Committee on Post Adjustment Questions and the General
Assembly on issues of conditions of service of the United
Nations common system.
